An important part of Jakera’s program for long term (3-6 month)
students is its work experience. What is a better way to meet locals,
practice your Spanish, and experience the real people? Examples of work
experience options include:
Escuela de Música de la ULA
Based at the music faculty in the university of Merida ULA - students
will be given the opportunity to teach both fellow students and school
children their respective instruments. There will also be an opportunity
to join in as a student at other lectures including music history and
Venezuelan folk music.
Street Kids - Fundación Don Bosco
Students will join other volunteers and workers in the staff rota. Tasks
will include cooking and cleaning, showering and putting the children
to bed, sports coaching and organising your own extra activities with
the children. Extra activities have included – English lessons,
German lessons, football coaching, art lesson, music classes and even
ice-skating excursions! – All new fun ideas are very welcome. We
at Jakera have great faith and hope in this ‘hands on’ programme,
we believe it to be a great opportunity to help a foreign local community
