Learn Spanish in Venezuela

An Integral part of the Language Travel & Adventure program is its Adventure Travel. Students want to learn Spanish, meet the real Latin people and have a travel experience to remember. We are not stuck in a stuffy classroom – but travel and see the best there is. the Adventure Trips are INCLUDED in your package (i.e. at no extra cost). Below are examples is include in our Project Advent Language School.

MOCHIMA NATIONAL PARK
Our Base at Playa Colorada (red beach) is in the heart of Parque Nacional Mochima. Occupying virtually 1000sq km of Eastern Venezuela, Mochima encompasses an endless parade of white-sand, palm-fringed Caribbean beaches, 32 islands and a significant portion of the adjacent coastal mountain ranges.

Trips to the offshore islands are straight from our doorstep, with excellent kayaking and sailing opportunities and virtually the guarantee of interacting with dolphins. On the islands there’s some interesting hiking where you’ll easily spot iguanas and scrambles to the top of the island are rewarded with an excellent view of the park. We’ve also introduced climbing and abseiling on the islands. Fishing, diving and snorkeling are excellent as is the seafood. .Inland, abundant waterfalls, natural springs, caves and a tranquil traditional pace of life.

THE GRAN SABANA AND RORAIMA (THE LOST WORLD)
The area known, as La Gran Sabana is located in the Southeastern corner of Venezuela at the border with Brazil and Guyana. These mystical highlands reveal an abundance of waterfalls, natural springs and "Pemon" Indian settlements and the remains of when the continent was still attached to Africa, the tepuy’s of the ‘lost world’. You spend 2 weeks on jeep safari with the highlight being a remarkable hike to Roraima (the Lost world).

ANGEL FALLS AND CANAIMA
The highest waterfall in the world plunges down from the western flank of a gorge in the middle of the Auyan-tepui. With a total height of 979m, and free fall of 807m, it is more than 19 times higher than Niagara. The water that leaves the summit takes fourteen seconds to reach the bottom. The journey to Angel Falls by riverboat unveils a collage of lush jungle, rampant rapids, serene lagoons and 700 indigenous species of plants. There’s excellent hiking or mountain biking in the area and you’ll enjoy relaxing in the swimming pools. The Pemon village of Canaima is a great place to kickback.

CARIPE AND THE NORTH EAST
The way to Caripe, also known as “Humboldt’s Route”- is a picturesque mountain area made up of Haciendas of coffee, orange and pineapple plantations. Caripe is home of the Guacharo Cave and was explored 200 years ago by Alexander von Humboldt. Apart from its size, over 10 kilometers have been explored; there are numerous stalactites and stalagmites. It also has a huge population of the nocturnal Guacharos or oil birds - up to 18,000 have been reported.

The surrounding mountainous area offers excellent hiking and horse riding opportunities. Caripe town itself is a great place to relax.

MERIDA / THE ANDES / LOS LLANOS
Mountainous Merida is the base for exploring the Venezuelan Andes, which stretch some 400km from the Colombian border north-eastwards and offer everything from snow-capped peaks to lush rainforests, with plenty of opportunities for adventure sport.

The most popular area for mountain trekking and rock climbing are the Sierra Nevada de Merida, where several of the country’s highest peaks including the technical Pico Bolivar 5007m, or glaciated Pico Humboldt and the magnificent Parque Nacional Sierra Nevada are located.

Other popular trekking destinations in the area include Los Nevados, reached via an easy trek along a beautiful mountain track from the top of the world’s longest cable car, which leaves from downtown Merida.
