Venezuela is a country of extraordinary diversity and natural beauty where
the sun shines most days of the year. Nowhere else will you find such
a fusion of heavenly tropical beaches, snow-capped giant mountains, steaming
pristine jungle and a vast mysterious savannah.
In the North there’s over 3000km of Caribbean coast where swaying
coconut palms grace white-sandy beaches and a myriad of deserted islands
pepper the horizon. The snow-capped peaks of the Andes rise above 5000m
in the west and drop down into endless wildlife-filled central savannah,
which drains into the eighth longest river, the Orinoco and home to the
ancient Warao Indians. In the South, steamy Amazonian jungles, haven to
a plethora of exotic plants and animals, and also the Gran Sabana plateau,
a (hauntingly) beautiful expanse, ‘the lost world’, with its
unique table-topped mountains, where cascades the world's highest waterfall,
Angel Falls.
All this and Venezuela still remains relatively undiscovered
Highlights
The Beaches – Venezuela is renown for its Caribbean palm fringed
beaches, and sun blessed islands.
Merida – the vibrant student city that hums every night! It is surrounded
by huge mountains giving it a alpine feel. It is the Adventure Capital
of Venezuela.
Teleferico. Based in Merida this is the highest and longest in the world
(it takes you to 16,000 feet!)
Angel Falls – the highest in the world at over 3000 feet. Truly
one of the world nature wonders
Gran Sabana – this is an incredible area of Savanna plains, Pemon
Indians and mystic tabletop Tepuy.
Roriama – the most famous of all the Tepuy. Rising over 1000 vertical
feet from the plains below its huge vertical wall overpower you. It looks
impregnable … but there is a secret way up. Roriama inspired Sir
Arthur Conan Doyle to write the literally masterpiece … The lost
World.
Orinoco Delta. The third largest Delta in the world. Only 20,000 Waro
Indians live in this remote jungle wilderness.
