Complementary short courses of Italian Cooking
and wines, Business Italian, Italian Fashion, Art history and Painting
enable foreign students to deepen various aspects of the Italian culture
and to acquire a general knowledge of the subject they are interested
in. These courses are held in the afternoons twice a week. Each lesson
is made up of two hours. They can be one-to-one or group courses. On request
on the part of the students it is possible to deepen or widen the programs.
Italian Cooking and wines
Students attend theoretical classes at school of Italian cooking terminology
and practical lessons at the teacher's home where they learn how to prepare
and cook typical Italian dishes. Lesson prices include the cost for the
ingredients and the tasting. It is possible to prepare particular dishes
on request on the part of the students.
Business Italian
The course aims to provide students with the bases to understand business
terminology and to know the various stages of Italian commercial life
in both business and tourist sector. Students learn how to understand
and write commercial letters, communicate by phone, introduce themselves,
apply for a job, solve various problems, learn business documents, the
rules as well as public and private institutions.
Italian Fashion
During the course students will be provided with information concerning
the origin of the "Made in Italy", the great Italian fashion
designers, their distinctive characteristics and their life history. Each
lesson will approach various topics, such as terminology, textiles, accessories,
fashion-shows and latest trends. The aim of the course is to make students
learn the fascinating world in detail with an expert teacher.
Art history
The course gives students an overview of art history in Florence. Florence,
an "open-air museum", is the city of the Renaissance. During
each lesson the teacher will introduce a single epoch, giving information
on a monument or a building of great artistic and architectonic value.
Students will also be able to visit the most famous museums of Florence
together with the teacher and therefore understand the contents of the
greatest works of art on exhibit.
Arts and crafts workshops
Italian language courses combined with arts and crafts workshops are offered
in the following subjects
- furniture restoration
- painting restoration
- goldsmith's and jeweller's art
- leather goods manufacture.
They are organised together with the Association of Artisans of Florence
and are available to beginners as well as to those students who are already
familiar with artisan skills.
In the arts and crafts workshops students learn these ancient skills in
a typical Florentine artisan shop (bottega). Courses comprise of Italian
lessons focused on technical terminology as well as craftsmanship training.
After a first theoretic approach, students start using tools and work
objects manually with the precious advices of the artisan. Courses can
have a duration of 1, 3 or 9 months.
Each package of a complete course includes:
- conversation group lessons in the morning
- one-to-one lessons on the subject's history (16 hour
lessons)
- one-to-one lessons on the subject's technical terminology
(24 hour lessons)
- theory and training in the workshop
- insurance
Schedule and dates of workshop lessons are
arranged between learners and staff. A maximum of 3 students can participate
in each workshop lesson. At the end of the course students receive their
certificate of attendance. |
