We are based on the island of Guadeloupe. this is part
of an archipelago in the Caribbean composed of five other islands : Les
Saintes, Marie-Galante, La Désirade and Petite Terre, Saint Martin
and Saint Barthélémy.
Guadeloupe and Martinique the two islands in the Lesser Antilles are called
the French West Indies (FWI).
Sainte - Anne Town:
Sainte - Anne is a small seaside town and surrounding district of some
20,000 inhabitants on the southern coast of Guadeloupe (Grande-Terre).
Sainte - Anne has always been known for its magnificent beaches.
In addition to the dazzling beauty of its coastal areas, there lies a
fascinating and rich inland heritage for you to discover. There is a history
of 'cottage industries craftsmen', the former windmills of by-gone times,
the quaint country atmosphere, and the fabulous vegetation and forests
in the "Grands-Fonds" area.
The average monthly temperature on Guadeloupe varies by only about 3º
C (5º F). It's hot - but not too hot, all year round. This temperature
stability is due to the trade winds (Les Alizés) which bring a
refreshing breeze from the northeast throughout the year with air temperatures
near the coast from 22º to 30º C (72º to 86º F) and a very warm water
temperatures of between 24ºand 28º C (69º and 77º F). Those winds also
lead to a relatively dry, not typically tropical climate on the flat north-eastern
island, Grand-Terre, where Sainte-Anne is located.
Year round where our school is located, there is great weather, and sunshine!
