Lake Taupo itself was created by the largest eruption of the past 5,000 years, it was so big the sun went hazy in China. Today, what remains is a lake the size of Singapore.

First Language: English (with UK spelling)

Size: 270,000 sq km (five times the size of the United Kingdom!)

Population: Less than 4 million. There is LOTS of room and space in NZ!

Indigenous Culture: Maori. This is still very strong and you can experience this unique culture including the famous 'haka'

National Pastimes: A BBQ on the beach, playing or watching rugby, the outdoors, walking barefoot!
