Established in 1991, Taupo language attracts students who prefer to study English in a smaller town, close to nature and where they get to know many of the friendly local kiwis. In 2004, students came from 17 different nationalities, with the largest percentage from French speaking Pacific countries. Because the school offers small class sizes (max 10 ), and the teachers are very well qualified and have been teaching English for many years, the students gain the necessary individual attention required to learn and understand English. The school is a TOEIC testing centre, and also offers IELTS and Cambridge classes on a regular basis.

There are four main class levels, with end of week assessments, extension reading novels and nightly homework. After classes students can then enjoy the activities, which are all taught in English.

TLOEC English School Courses Available for 2005

Part-Time English Program (4 levels)
15 hours English per week (09:00 - 12:15 each day) .
Students can select their own afternoon adventure activities, on a pay as they attend basis. Suitable for students who wish to pursue their favourite sports and become fluent in English over a longer period of time. 2 - 50 weeks duration.

Full Time English Program
25 Hours per week. The fastest way to improve your English. 2-50 weeks duration. Students enrolled on this course can change to an Exam Class, at no extra cost.

Examination Courses
IELTS Examo Courses
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is widely accepted as a prerequisite for the University and Polytechnic entrance examinations in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada. It is also required for Permanent Residency in New Zealand.
Also FCE and CAE Cambridge examinations, and TOEIC examinations are held upon request. The school is a TOEIC testing centre

Full Time English and Adventure Activities
15 hours per week & 5 adventure activities per week - all equipment hire, transport, instruction & ski passes - 1 to 4 weeks duration

English, Snowboarding & Skiing
General English on non-skiing days, 3 days snow skiing or boarding per week. Mountain transport and ski passes included. You need to bring your own skis/board, and clothing. All equipment and clothing can be purchased or rented in Taupo.

Ski / Snowboard Race Programme
Suitable for experienced skiers/boarders who have their own equipment.
Duration: Mid July to October.
Snow school every weekend in July and September school holidays (NZ school holidays).

Snow lover's special
For every 15 week enrolment purchased before 20 April 2005:
Free season pass at New Zealand's largest ski resort - Mount Ruapehu

English & Golf
15 Hours general English per week.
2-50 weeks duration.
(Each week includes: 2 x 30 minute PGA coaching lessons, 2 x 18 hole games, one practice afternoon on the Wairakei International Golf Course driving range).
Students use Taupo Golf Club.

English & Unlimited Golf
English programme of your choice plus one year's International Student golf membership at Taupo Golf Club -
