Inside Manhattan

Arrival & Departure

ˇ         Students arrive the Sunday before the start date and depart on the Saturday after the last day of class.

ˇ         Students must inform the Admissions Department of their arrival time so that we can notify the host to ensure that someone will be home to greet them. 

ˇ         We recommend that students also call the host 72 hours in advance of their departure to confirm the arrival time. 

ˇ         Hosts are not expected to meet students at the airport.

Location

ˇ         Safe residential areas within Manhattan.

Travel time

ˇ         15-30 minutes to the school via subway, bus or walking.

ˇ         Public transportation is a short walk from the homestay.

Meals

ˇ         Bed & Breakfast only – On rare occasions, students may be expected to prepare their own meals, in which case the food will be provided by the host.

ˇ         Students may have access to the kitchen with the permission of the host.

Family type

ˇ         Non-traditional family types such as single working professionals, retirees or young professional roommates.

Room types

ˇ         Students stay in single rooms. 

ˇ         Double rooms are limited and are only available for 2 students arriving together.

Bathroom

ˇ         Bathroom facilities are usually shared with the host.

Sheets & towels

ˇ         Included.  Will be changed regularly or when requested.

ˇ         In some cases, students may be asked to change their own sheets or towels, in which case they are provided by host.

Laundry & Cleaning

ˇ         Not included for personal clothing.  Students are expected to wash their own clothing.

ˇ         Information about Laundromats or washing facilities to be provided by hosts. 

ˇ         Students are responsible for keeping their rooms tidy.

Telephone

ˇ         Students may receive telephone calls from abroad, but family and friends must consider international time differences when calling. 

ˇ         Students must always ask the host before using the telephone.

ˇ         If students wish to make collect calls, they must ask their host for assistance.

ˇ         Rennert Bilingual will not be responsible for phone bills left by students. Any remaining bills will be the responsibility of the agent.

Notes

ˇ         May be more suitable for mature, independent travelers.

ˇ         May not be suitable for very young students, smokers who insist upon smoking within the home and/or people with restricted diet

 

Outside Manhattan

ˇ         Students may have access to the kitchen with the permission of the host.

Family type

ˇ         Single working professionals and traditional families.
