Boquete is a small pueblo of only 4000 people, located at 1000 meters above sea level. This means that its climate is still hot, but a little more temperate than the oppressing heat of the coast. It is  nestled in a beautiful green valley. The crystal clear waters of the river Caldera runthrough the village, and its backdrop is the stunning Barú  volcano which raises majestically above other surrounding mountains. Throughout Panama Boquete is known for its cool and fresh climate and pristine natural environment.

This is the coffee growing area of Panama and also an area rich in indigenous people living in the mountains above Boquete. The Guaymís women wear colourful dresses and are commonly seen in the village. People here  are known for their friendliness and  willingness to help you with your Spanish. It's an excellent place to practice your Spanish, as few people speak English.

In Boquete you have a choice of accommodations, restaurants, (pool) bars, coffee shops, banks, internet cafes, a discothèque and some open air dance floors for special occasions.
