Homestay:

Staying with a Japanese host family is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the culture, and practice at “home” what you learned at school that day.

Your host families are likely to be the people you become closest to during your stay, so we perform a thorough screening of all host family applicants, to ensure that they can provide a suitable environment to assist your learning. In particular, young children can help your Japanese greatly! Under-18s are required to stay in a homestay. On average, they are 45 minutes from school by public transport.

Shared apartment:

Staying with other people in the city gives you the opportunity to make friends easily, and go out freely, but still have a lot of privacy and freedom. You share the central facilities, such as laundry, kitchen, and bathroom.

Most of these apartments are well located quite close to the center of the city, and may have one other guest, in addition to the Japanese landlord. You must prepare your own meals.

A shared apartment is perfect for adults on a budget. On average, they are 20 minutes from school by public transport.

Dormitory:

A private room in a dormitory with other GenkiJACS students and Japanese university students gives you the freedom to enjoy the city life without a curfew, but also the chance to make lots of friends. All facilities (kitchen, toilet, shower, etc.) are shared with all guests. Breakfast and dinner are available for an additional cost.

The dormitory is perfect for university students or young adults on a budget. On average, they are 45 minutes from school by public transport.
