Language Courses Rome
ITALIAN
LANGUAGE
Intensive
(15-20-30 hrs/week)
Classes are held
from Monday to Friday.
New courses start every 4 weeks throughout the year.
Minimum attendance is 2 weeks.

15 hrs/week:
afternoons, 3 hours a day, from 2 to 52 weeks.

20 hrs/week:
mornings*, 4 hours a day, from 2 to 40 weeks.
(*at certain
times of the year, for 1 week out of 4, lessons may be held from 2pm to 6pm)

30 hrs/week:
mornings and afternoons, 6 hours a day, from 2 to 28 weeks.
Non-Intensive (6
hrs/week)
Classes are held
twice a week, mornings or afternoons, and last 3 hours.
Each course lasts 12 weeks.
These courses are run all year except July, August and September.
Minimum attendance is 12 weeks.
Individual
Courses
Particularly
suitable for business and professional people and all those who require tuition
tailor-made to their individual needs.
Small groups of 2-4 students can also be catered for.
Intensive (15-30 hrs/week)
Attendance is
daily from Monday to Friday and varies from 3 to 6 hours a day.
Minimum attendance is one week.
Non-Intensive
(3+ hrs/week)
Attendance is a
minimum of 3 hours a week for a minimum of 30 hours in all.
Combined Courses
Students attend
a group course in the mornings (4 hours/day) and individual tuition in the
afternoons (2 hours/day).
These courses are particularly suitable for those who need Italian both for
general and specific purposes (dealing with specific topics in specific settings
and /or other particular aspects of the language).
ARTS AND
CULTURE:
ROMAN
ARCHAEOLOGY
The aim of the course is to give the participants a brief introduction to the
most common methodologies used in archaeology within a general framework of
Roman history. As a result the participants will find themselves in contact with
the customs and traditions of Ancient Rome. The course is divided in eight
lessons, each lasting three hours.
ITALIAN ART
Rome is an unparalleled repository of monuments from all periods. Great
architectural structures, unforgettable avenues, breathless sculptures,
naturalistic wonders of the Roman period, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and
the Baroque, all these have left their mark on the Rome we see today. Every
lesson lasts 3 hours. Slides and information hand-outs are provided together
with booklets on the subjects dealt with.
ITALIAN COOKING
& WINE
Simple or elaborate, Italian cooking offers a variety of dishes to satisfy every
palate, from the gourmet to the health-conscious, from those who eat standing up
to those who spend hours at table. The vast variety of typical Italian products
- the countless kinds and shapes of pasta, the various types of pizza together
with meat, fish, vegetables, olive oil and and the world renowned Italian wine -
all contribute in making an Italian meal a special occasion. In each lesson,
lasting three hours, the participants will acquire the theoretical and practical
knowledge required to prepare some of the most representative regional dishes
and to select the wines to accompany them
OTHER:
50+
This
programme is held twice a year, lasts 2 weeks and caters exclusively for people
over 50.
It's a mixture of language, art, culture and the pleasure of spending time
together to share and improve one's knowledge of those aspects of Rome that make
this city so unforgettable.
Apart from 40 hours of language lessons in the morning in classes of mixed ages
at the appropriate level, the programme includes activities.
All these activities take place in Italian and are guided and/or accompanied by
teachers of Italian well versed in Archaeology and History of Art.
Italian Out
There
Specially suitable for people who have very little time to devote to learning
Italian. Each lesson, three hours long, has a linguistic and/or communicative
theme and is made up of 3 parts.
The
first part,
which takes place in class, is devoted to the vocabulary, the grammar, the
phonology and the communicative rules applicable to a specific situation.
In the
second part
of the lesson the students put into practice what they have learnt. In real life
contexts, they carry out pre-determined tasks interacting with Italian people.
The
third part
of the lesson is devoted to tackling the difficulties encountered.
Each lesson is in itself a complete learning experience and as a consequence it
is possible to offer the Italian Out There course even for short periods,
starting from a minimum of 3 days.
Business Italian
These
classes deal specifically with business situations and the language and
communication skills required for doing business in Italian.
They are held three times a week and last 2 hours.
The programme lasts 4 weeks.
The course is designed for business executives, professional people and students
who already have a working knowledge of the language and who must use business
Italian in real-life situations. The lessons will concentrate on all aspects of
business Italian, both written and spoken. Ample space will be given to business
terminology and to a review of relevant grammatical structures.
Language School
Year Programme
This
programme which lasts 32 weeks (a 35-week stay) has been designed to meet the
ever increasing demand of a solid language course combined with other
disciplines such as History of Art, Architecture and Design, in which Italy is
famous throughout the world. The course is open to beginners and elementary
students from all over the world, aged between 16 and 28. |
