Spanish Immersion with one to one basis

This course consists of 20 to 35 sessions per week starting every Monday all year round. It has been designed to meet each student's needs according to their level of knowledge, their particular and professional interest, and their own pace to learn. The student will be able to request his / her professor specific exercises and focus of the classes always keeping in mind that half of the course is formal class instruction and the other half is practical activities and exercises.

At the beginning of the course, each student will take a placement test which will orientate the professor on how to tailor the course considering the level of knowledge and the students' objectives oriented to develop the four main skills of a language: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

The participants will be able to take classes with a rather flexible schedule with a minimum of one week of duration. 

Spanish Immersion with group lessons basis

This course consists of 20 sessions per week starting every Monday all year round. Students will be taking group classes, with a maximum of five participants per classroom. After a placement test, and based upon availability, students will be accommodated in one of the eight levels this program has. 

 Students will follow an intensive Spanish program with the following scheme: half of the course is formal class instruction and the other half is practical activities and exercises, all of that oriented to develop the four main skills of a language: reading, writing, listening and speaking.

The participants will be able to take this course with a minimum of one week of duration. 

Note: If one person has signed up for group lessons but has a different level and there are not courses available for that level at the moment, this person can take 17 hours of one to one lessons for every 20 hours of classes in group.

Note for agents: We would prefer to sell this option for couples or family groups of students travelling together and with a similar level of Spanish.

Spanish and Volunteer Work

Work as a volunteer while you learn Spanish; get involved in a volunteer project to contribute in the improvement of life in rural and urban areas of Ecuador. AGS offers a wide frame of volunteer opportunities in several areas such as: social work, educational, environmental conservancy or health related projects.

AGS maintains close working relationships with Ecuador’s most respected humanitarian and ecological organizations that support social oriented and sustainable projects.

This program gives the participants the opportunity to volunteer during their Spanish instruction or after they have completed the course. This based on their abilities in the language and the minimum skills required for the desired volunteer position. Instruction can be on one to one or group basis,

Notes:

(1) Some of the organizations’ projects have a registration fee that is not included in the program price.

(2) Most programs require a minimum commitment of one month.

Medical Spanish

AGS, based on the requirements of each participant, and with the support of our Medical Coordinator and experienced teachers, has designed a customized program combining half day Spanish lessons and half day observational rotations for students and professionals in the medical field, with three primary goals: 1) Development and improvement of language skills in Spanish 2) Exposure to Ecuadorian health settings through observational rotations accompanying doctors or residents  in hospitals and clinics in Quito 3) Cultural immersion through home-stay and scheduled excursions to beautiful sites in Ecuador.

After evaluating the language skills level, the professor tailors a program according to the individual needs of the student working in one on one basis. Depending on their Spanish ability, students could start since the first week with both, classes and the clinic observational rotations. The minimum commitment for this program is 2 weeks.

DELE Preparation program

AGS has designed a specialized course to prepare students for the internationally recognized D.E.L.E. exam of Spanish proficiency.

The D.E.L.E. Exam—Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera (Spanish as a Foreign Language Diploma)—is prepared and evaluated under the auspice of the University of Salamanca and the Instituto Cervantes of the Spanish Government.  It is universally recognized as the most important exam of Spanish proficiency, and is a standard requirement for anyone wishing to study in Spanish-speaking universities or work in Spanish-speaking companies, organizations or government offices.

AGS has ample material designed specifically for this purpose to prepare students who are interested to get the diploma for Basic, Intermediate or Superior levels. The D.E.L.E. Preparation Program provides students the opportunity to take at least two complete practice exams, to be evaluated and discussed with his/her professor, before the test date.

Minimum commitment: 1 week.

Spanish and Culture

The most effective method for learning a foreign language is a total cultural immersion!  The city of Quito, a crossroads of indigenous, colonial and modern influences, is an ideal location to improve the students’ skills and raise their cultural awareness.

Study Spanish one-on-one with an experienced professor during the mornings (20 sessions per week) and explore with your teacher the city and its sites in the afternoon (10 – 15 hours per week). In this way, participants will be able to combine formal but dynamic class-instruction with cultural and tourist excursions in Quito and surroundings.

This program is available from one to eight weeks commitment. Price includes entrance fees for museums, churches and other places of tourist interest, as well as the public transportation inside and around the city.
