Intensive Mini Group Spanish

We provide small mini-group Spanish (max 5 in a group, normally 3). This consists of 4 lessons per day, 5 days per week. There are 6 different ability groups. Hiving others in your class it is an excellent way to stay motivated is excellent for practise and of course a good way to meet other students.

Occasionally we will not meet our minimum numbers per class in your ability group. In this case your lessons will be replaced with 15 hours of private one on one lessons.

Private One on One

Many people want individual attention! They can learn faster.. If this is you, then we suggest our one on one classes. The teacher is focused solely on your needs, you will learn quickly and efficiently. This is often option to take if you are limited on time, if you have specialised Spanish to learn, or if it suits your learning style best.

The teacher will be following a well proven course syllabus, but is free to concentrate on any weaknesses you have, or to discuss in conjunction with you, and areas you want to work on.

Special Themed Courses

Survival Spanish

Are travelling through Ecuador or even South America? Your time is short; you want to do many other things this is for you!

You will learn what you need to 'survive' in Spanish. The program is about conservational Spanish and the daily phases that will allow you to be understood and to understand.

The course is just 10 hours per week (2 hours per day). This leaves is plenty of time to enjoy all that Montañita has to offer.

Spanish and Surf

Montañita the best surfing in Ecuador, and in fact anywhere in South America! If you can’t surf, and always wanted to, or are a beginner why not combine your Spanish by taking surfing lessons.  If you can already surf  just take some Spanish lessons and then head for our fnaous point break!

There is very consistent surf all year. Beach break for beginners, and point break for the surfers. AND, there are hundreds of miles of other breaks all along the coast. If you want a deserted first class break you can easily find it! Surf boards are allowed in local buses around Montanita. Its simply a surfer’s paradise!

Spanish and Dive

Go down and dive! Our locaiton has excellent diving opportunities. What a great combo of learning Spanish in the morning right on the beach, and Diving in the afternoon. Isla Del Plata and other great dive locations not far away We have programs for divers, and for those wishing to get their PADi open water certifications.

Spanish and Volunteer

Work as a volunteer while you learn Spanish; get involved in a volunteer project to contribute in the improvement of life in Ecuador. AGS offers a wide range  of volunteer opportunities in several areas such as: social work, educational, environmental conservancy or health related projects.

We maintain close working relationships with Ecuador’s humanitarian and ecological organizations that support social oriented and sustainable projects.

Just 12 miles (20 km) from Montañita is an amazing Agroecological project. Tucked away up a remote valley is a very proactive ecological program. With a focus to replant and replenish the trees around this area, and to build a wildlife sanctuary (especially for birds and butterflies)  Your day will be spent helping out with planting, pruning, and the daily life of a farm passionate about restoring nature to its pristine.

We also have two school Volunteer projects. One is a remote 1 teacher, 24 student school. Here you will help with teacher with everyday teaching, and teaching English etc. The kids are amazing! So happy to see you! Also, a great project at our local school at Montañita which deals with many poor children. There is strong community spirit and the local community encourages you to become involved. This is often extremely rewarding, making friends and helping the local children.
Explore Ecuador Travelling Classroom

Wow, what a program! You spend Monday to Thursday learning Spanish (5 hours per day 20 hours in total), and also doing afternoon interesting local activities Then the next three days travelling or adventuring to your next location!

First is Quito, the capital and historic centre of Ecuador. Next is Cuenca, the UNESCO old historic colonial city. Onto the funky and lively small town of Montañita. Lastly is the sea side city of Manta.

Along the way there is wildlife, surfing , kitesurfing, archaeology  indigenous markets, adventure, cloud forests, beaches. Snow capped mountains and more!

Medical Spanish and internship/practical at a rural hospital in Montanita/Manglaralto

We have had great feedback from interns on this program. It is a full on, practical internship.

For 4 or more hours per day you will learn Medical Spanish with our professional teacher, and then you will have five rotations at the hospital per week (normally 3-4 hour rotations)

The hospital is very busy, and deals mainly with poor people from the surrounding rural areas and small 'pueblos'. It has a very good range of facilities including  emergency, x ray,

Importantly the hospital desperately needs help. The feedback we have received from past interns is excellent.

Health professionals or anyone studying in health related fields such as pre-med, med, doctors, nurses, dental students, nursing students, EMTS.
