Volunteer Opportunities
·
National Parks
-Volunteers live with park rangers in ranger stations and help
them in activities such as; orienting the tourists, maintaining trails and
buildings, information signs, protecting wildlife, office work and surveys.
·
Public schools
-Helping students with English classes in addition to
recreational and educational activities.
·
Helen Keller Organization
-Working with deaf and blind people, both adults and children.
Volunteers help in their education by reading or recording books, and
participating in recreational activities
·
PANI (abandoned and abused children)
-Helping in educational and recreational activities that build
the children’s self-esteem; some of these children are waiting to be adopted and
some might return to their parents’ home depending upon the situation.

ASOMUFACQ
-Recycling programs, women`s rights, drug prevention, handcraft
workshops, restaurant management, English classes.
·
ASCOMOTI
-Protects the Titi Monkey around Manuel Antonio Park. Programs
for students to become aware of the importance of environmental conservation.

CEPPA Peace Foundation
-Helping the Foundation in many different things. Teaching
English, translations, kids’ self-esteem, etc.
·
San José Zoo
-Taking care of the zoo animals and helping the personnel with
administrative activities.
·
San Felipe Neri Special School
-Working with deaf and blind people and Down ’s syndrome
children, also the volunteer helps in rehabilitation. Volunteers help in their
education by reading or recording books, and participating in recreational
activities

Nursery Home
-Volunteers help by reading or recording books, playing bingo and
participating in recreational activities.
·
Roberta Felix Foundation
-Organization to support handicapped poor people. Fundraising
activities.
·
SOS Children’s Villages in Costa Rica
-It is a residential home for about 50 young people with a
variety of problems and disorders, ranging from severe mental retardation to
severe psychological problems. Most of them have been abandoned by their
families or cannot be taken care of at home.

Habitat for Humanity
-HFHI
Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing
ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing and homelessness from the
world, and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.
Habitat invites people of all backgrounds, races and religions to build houses
together in partnership with families in need. Also HFHI offers some work
(usually for Engineers) in the office.

Friends Peace Center
-CAP is a
Quaker organization committed to working to promote peace on local,
national and international levels. CAP volunteers are encouraged to attend any
meetings that are of interest to them, and this is a wonderful opportunity to
meet like-minded people and gain greater exposure to issues facing Costa Rica. |
