CULTURAL COURSES

Brazilian cultural classes complement the scheduled language learning inside the classroom in the morning. Classes are being realized twice a week in the afternoon, after the language classes. The instructors are professional, specialized in working with foreigners.
They consist of a theoretical and a practical part. Each group must have a minimum number of 3 students. Included in the price are the materials needed, e.g. for cooking classes the ingredients and the teaching material, that is a booklet with basic vocabulary and some facts about traditions and historical and cultural backgrounds of each of the areas.

Brazilian Cuisine

In these classes students can learn how to cook typical Brazilian dishes with local exotic ingredients. Compose for example a Moqueca, made of shrimp or fish in coconut milk, palm oil, herbs and spices. Our professional cook teaches the secret of Feijoada, Bobó de camarão, Vatapá, Acarajé and Caipirinha and many more delicious Brazilian dishes and drinks. Diálogo's cooking classes are very fun. Students choose the drink or dish, prepare it themselves with assistance from the teacher and then eat and drink it together.

Classes are being realized twice a week in the afternoon, with a duration of 2 hours each class.

Samba and Afro-Brazilian Dance

Everybody is impressed with and fascinated by the elegance and the feeling for rhythm the Brazilians have. No matter if it is Samba, Pagode, Lambada, Forró or Axé the body moves in perfect harmony with the music. The teacher will give notions of Capoeira movements and Afro-Brazilian dances.
The teacher gives a general introduction to different rhythms and dances or styles, while exploring the history, tradition and development of Brazilian dance. Students are being prepared for Carnival, for a better understanding of Candomblé rituals or for a future participation in Capoeira.

One hour class twice a week in the afternoon, so they don’t interfere with the language classes in the morning.

Music Classes

During the vocal classes the students will learn how to sing Brazilian Popular Music, Bossa Nova, Samba, Capoeira, Axé and Forró. There will be a general introduction to the tradition and history of Brazilian music,  lyrics and information about the Brazilian singers and song-writers.

As classes are held in Portuguese, this course is not recommended for true beginners!
