Locations

Bariloche is simply stunning. It is located right in the heart of the Andean lake district of Patagonia and is a world renowned destination. Bariloche has so much to offer. There is fantastic hiking in summer and autumn and amazing skiing in the winter. It has both the peace and quiet of the great outdoors and a very active and attractive nightlife.

The locals are friendly and welcome International students. We always recommend home-stays with a local host family.

Right from the moment you depart your plane, you will appreciate the amazing mountain scenery. Bariloche is the vacation and outdoor capital of Patagonia. It lies along the shores of spectacular Lago Nahuel Huapi. Bariloche also rises up the slopes of Cerro Otto, behind which rear the spiky crests of the Cerro Catedral massif. Bariloche is picture perfect; from the lake, to the mountain, with the town in between.

Almost a million visitors come to Bariloche each year. Tourism is its life blood, and the town is geared to give you the time of your life. The area's main attractions are the Parque Nacional Nahuel Huapi that surrounds the town, and the ski resort of Cerro Catedral, one of the south Maierca’s most popular ski resorts.

For five days in August Bariloche celebrates the Fiesta Nacional de la Nieve, with ski races, parades and a torchlit evening descent on skis to open the season officially, as well as the election of the Reina Nacional de la Nieve, or Snow Queen.

Bariloche is a great base to access the beautiful Andean Cordillera and is the perfect place to study Spanish in Argentina.

Best time to come:

Summer for a fantastic climate, winter for skiing and snow sports! Bariloche is truly a year round destination!
